Cutter,my barn is 42'x48' and is all shop it has 10' side walls and the ceiling is 11'9" to the peak it cost me $600. more to go with the NU-WOOL rather than 6"fiberglass bats but the R-values are more than twice that of bats and barn is sealed tight around wires and anything else inside the wall. You should find out how high the R-values are for gold because I think that is the type of insulation these people you talked are using. What kind of R-values are they quoting you, also what type of insulation are they really using? I don't know where you are located but you should maybe try to get a price on the NU-WOOL insulation. budinohio.

Bob, there are quite a few power rakes you can try but probably the best known would be the Harley by Glenmac. Here in Ohio to buy one you are talking any where from $5700-$6700, and to rent is $50-$150 a day just depends what is available and from who. My local Ford dealer gets $50 while the local Kabota dealer gets a $150 a day. Your Kabota will handle a 6' Harley with ease and they do an excellent job at tearing up the hardest dirt and leveling all at the same time. I own a 6' Harley and use a Deere 4600 on it. Eddie, I made my own yokes and swivel brackets and used the tires made for mower decks. I welded 10"x6" plates on the back of the blower between the braces to take care of the flexing. The tires can not pivot all the way around but they have plenty of room to turn when following winding drives and they don't need to turn when going forwards because the blower should be raised. You can buy everything I made from a lawn mower supply shop. I got the small tires and rims through a supply magazine called greenline the tires I got are foam filled and fit scag, bunton, woods, etc., they also sell a variety of weld on brackets and yokes for many different applications I just made my own and used my imagination. They really work nice and look factory mounted.budinohio.

Bill,my clutch on my 970 did this also, there was a screen on the right of tranny (bellhousing) by the brakes. There was a sheild on the 970 I had to remove to see this little scren. Just remove the screen and you can see the clutch and preasure plate, take a long screw driver and pop the two apart, I never had to apply much preasure to pop them apart. I'm guessing the 970 and 950 are very simular and have the same screen, if this does not work you may have other problems. Hope this helps, budinohio.

I also have StateFarm ins. and for me here in Ohio there was no horse power limit, the tractor and all equipment is covered only if stored or being used on the property stated on home owners policy. The only time the tractor is covered being trailered is on the way to or from the the dealer. I do use mine away from the home for buisness so I got contractors coverage through StateFarm about $110. a month, covers all equipment and tractor and includes 500,000 liability for property damage and etc. no matter how equipment would get damaged it's covered, but I am only insured operator. budinohio

John, I for got to say get a four blade and largest diameter fan possible, the faster the blower can get rid of the snow the better the performance. budinohio.

I do custom snow removal with a 6' Pronovost 3pt blower, the longest drive I do is 1/2 mile long plus a 100x30 parking area. Depending on how bad the weather is I am out all day moving snow and yes my neck gets real stiff. Waiting for Deere to come out with a swiveling seat, but till then you have to do what you have to do.

B.C., does the 955 seem to have plenty of power when operating, can you move at a reasonable speed when blowing? If so there is probably nothing wrong with your blower, it's just the way that particular blower operates. I use to own a woods 74" 3pt snowblower and ran a 970 Deere, the 970 played with the blower but it would not blow snow very far. The problem was design, blower depth, number of blades on fan,and diameter of fan. Now I own a Pronovost and Deere 4600 and there is no comparing the two blowers, the Pronovost has balanced fan and auger bigger fan, deeper fan, 4 blades, 72", and 600.$ cheaper. What I'm saying is if your 955 is not struggling with power or speed while operating the blower most likely it's operating (blowing) at it's capacity.

Eric, there is no oil around the clutch packs or clutch shaft and it's the clutch packs that slide on the splines that could be rusted and or gummed up.In fact if you look under the sheild on the right side of tranny by the brake peddles you will see a little screen. You can remove the screen and shine a light in and see the clutch assembly. The problem is clutch dust and moisture. budinohio.

Glen, I have a 60" JD tiller on my 4600 and it always handles it fairly easily which it should. I almost always run it as deep as it will go be it in loose dirt or hard untouched dirt. In my clay soil I would not recomend a 4100 and a 60" tiller, in fact a 50" would be pushing it. Keep in mind that when you buy a tiller you want your tractor to be able to handle it in all conditions, hard soil, deep or shallow. The Deere 50"& 60" tillers will till up to 8" deep, some other tillers only 4"-6" so keep this in mind when buying. I owned a 970 before my 4600 with a 6' belly mower which I highly recomend and as far as weight the 970 is quite a bit more tractor than the 790 and I had no damage what so ever to my lawn. Rear mount or belly is a to each his own decision, I tried a 72" rear mount after two years of mowing with my belly mount it did not give me near the cut that the belly mount did and it's easier to see what you are doing with a belly mower like when mowing around trees and etc. If I had big open areas to mow with no obstacles and completly level maybe a rear mount but in my opinion the only advantage with a rear mount is ease of hook up if you remove deck often like I do. I kept my belly mount and took the LandPride back. Hope this helps budinohio.

George, I owned a 970 before I bought my 4600 and at 1000 hrs I never had a problem. But the new owner only uses it once in a while and he left it parked out side after he received it and the clutch stuck. I and my brother went to his place to try and get it to release with no luck. My brother being a Deere mechanic was gonna split the tractor until he remembered the little screen on the right side of the tranny. He stuck a long screw driver in and just applied a little leverage and it popped right loose. I don't know if you are having a problem getting yours broke loose but if you do this might save alot of work. My bother said the 50 series used to be shipped with a block of wood to hold the clutch in since they had alot of problems with sticking clutches, but he never had a problem with the 70 series until my old 970 did it. budinohio

My loader safety latch came Aug.1st united parcel, took about 1 minute to install. I read some place that if you keep the linkage adjusted properly there is less chance of it coming off. The little two finger like claw latch will be a slight pain but cheap and easy insurance, I do and will always use it. I will still keep my linkage adjusted as manual says but I don't even want to think about or worry about having a full bucket of anything and have that loader come off while I'm moving. My third SCV handle is very flimsy in the warm season but ok when it gets cooler, I work it by putting more of my hand on the metal part of the handle but I'm sure it's just a matter of time before it comes off. The older tractors 4020s and so on have a much stiffer type of rubber used on the levers I never had one of those come off or get loose. I think I was told that the third and fourth SCVs are after market items, it's sold by Deere but made by someone else. Terry I agree with you on a better hydraulic set up and the swivel seat, I would gladly pay a couple of hundred $ more for the hydraulic system like they put on the 5000 series tractors rather than the cheap cable set up on my 4600. I would up grade to a swivel seat in a heart beat. Getting my new axle installed today and some other things done, looking forward to operating with new axle. budinohio

My axle for 4600 came in Aug. 1st, haven't had installed yet. Someone awhile back said if you didd'nt have turfs and mower deck you could not get the replacement axle,I have neither and got an axle. budinohio.

The spike type actually packs the ground while poking the hole because they don't remove any dirt. The plugger type removes the dirt to loosen the ground allowing air, fertilizer, to enter root area easier. Also the plugs left behind will crumble after awhile and these plugs also are a source of nutriant. All you can say about a spike type aerator is that it is better than nothing, budinohio.

Danny, I installed the third scv on my 4600 and my dealer only allowed me 4 hrs for shop time. Your price seems very high, call another dealer or two if available for another price. Good luck, budinohio.

Andy, had about the same thing happen to my 4600 at 50 hrs, loaded it on trailer to transport everything fine . Got to field and nothing, dead, got a hold of my brother (Deere machanic) and the first thing he did was bypass the safety switch under seat. Started right up, switch was covered by waranty, about 20 min. to fix.(had to tear seat of to get to switch. Hope this helps, budinohio.

Eric, mid mount pto is an option that can be added. As for rims they are the same bolt pattern. As far as ag tires the 970 came with 24" rears and 15" fronts, the 1070 came with 13.6x28 rears and 16x8s in the front, which were an option on the 970, but all were same bolt pattern.The price for power beyond on the Deere 4000 series is around 120.$ don't know about 70 series. budinohio.
